The investigating officer, Detective Inspector Sanna Rentola, has refrained from commenting on the details of the case during the pre-trial investigation.
– It is my duty to ensure that I do not compromise the investigation by releasing information to the public too early, Rentola said on Friday.
There have been no detention requests filed at the East Uusimaa District Court, which may suggest that no suspect has been apprehended.
However, Rentola assures that the investigation is not stalled.
– We are not in the dark. The investigation has made good progress.
The charge of murder refers to a homicide that is particularly brutal, cruel, or premeditated. Neighbours have reported blood traces in the entrance hall of the apartment building in front of the lift, and one witness testified to police operations when a body was carried out of the stairwell.
Police are asking everyone who was in the area of Laajaniitynkuja between 8 pm and 11 pm on the night of the incident to make contact. A request presented over the weekend for a dog walker to come forward resulted in several reports.
– Anyone who was in that area may have valuable observations for us, Rentola says.
