A police patrol found a dead woman in an apartment in an apartment building located in the Tonttila district. Police suspect the death resulted from violence.
The 32-year-old man suspected of the crime was arrested in Lahti on Sunday, 28 June, a few hours after the suspected crime came to light. He will be brought before the court for a detention hearing on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, 30 June.
According to information from Ilta-Sanomat, the man is suspected of murdering his 30-year-old wife. According to district court documents, the spouse had filed for divorce at the end of last year, but the matter was still pending. The couple lived at different addresses in Lahti.
Police have stated that the preliminary investigation is still in its early stages and they are unable to provide further information about the incident at this point without jeopardising the investigation.
