An act of violence occurred on Tuesday in Pelloksenhaan playground in Espoo, in which a middle-aged man used physical force against a woman. West Uusimaa police report that the crime took place when the victim asked an unknown man for space on a swing.
The situation escalated into violence following verbal threats. The man struck the woman on the back, after which the victim fled the scene with her child and called the authorities.
The perpetrator had managed to disappear before police arrived. Based on eyewitness observations, he was heading towards nearby apartment buildings in the area. According to authorities' assessment, the assailant may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Investigation leader Mikko Syvänen describes the act as assault. Distinguishing characteristics of the suspect include short light brown hair.
