Oulu police have received numerous public tips regarding stabbing attacks carried out by a cyclist in the city. The perpetrator remains at large.

Authorities in northern Finland continue to search for a person who has stabbed several people from a bicycle saddle. More than a hundred observations related to the incidents have been provided to authorities.
The violent crimes occurred in the Oulu region at the end of June. One of the most serious attacks happened in Kaukovainío on 26 June. In that incident, a foreign-born man sustained injuries when he was struck with a sharp weapon at a junction. The perpetrator fled along a light-traffic route.
According to Crime Commissioner Petri Savela, various methods are accelerating the investigation. In addition to information provided by citizens, authorities are also reviewing surveillance camera recordings from the area.
"There is a lot of work done behind the scenes that is not visible to the public. Several investigation teams are involved in the work," Savela said.
He reminded that each tip is checked, even though their examination takes time. Observations that seem insignificant can also be helpful.
Investigators have noted that the Oulu region has experienced several similar attacks this year. In these attacks, a person moving by bicycle has struck foreign-born people with a knife. Authorities have indications that the motive may be racist hostility.
The suspected perpetrator has been described as approximately 20–35 years old. He has been moving by bicycle, which has been described as old-fashioned in appearance. A limp was visible in his gait.
Police previously released a video showing a man resembling the suspect wearing a baseball cap and a collared shirt. The video material is part of the preliminary investigation.
