Oulu police are investigating multiple stabbings committed by a perpetrator travelling by bicycle, which have targeted victims of foreign background. The suspect has not been identified despite around two hundred tips having been received.

Oulu police are continuing their investigation into multiple stabbings committed by a perpetrator travelling by bicycle. The most recent incident occurred on 26 June in Kaukavainio, where a cyclist attacked a man of foreign background with a blade weapon at a crossroads and fled the scene. This is being investigated as attempted murder.
The perpetrator has struck five times this year, and all incidents have been committed whilst travelling by bicycle. The targets have been individuals of foreign background. The attacks have occurred in the evenings over a short period of time.
In early June in Knuutinkankaa, the perpetrator stabbed a victim in the back. Incidents from April and May are being investigated as attempted murder in some cases, and as aggravated assault or attempted aggravated assault in others. According to chief detective Petri Savela, all cases are being treated as one connected investigation.
Police released surveillance camera images a week ago, which show a person dressed in a collared shirt and grey baseball cap riding what is known as a "granny bike". In the images, the figure favours their left leg. Authorities' assessment is that the perpetrator is between 20 and 35 years old.
Around two hundred tips have been received, but the suspect has not yet been identified. Savela believes that someone will recognise a familiar person from the images.
