The East Uusimaa police have completed the preliminary investigation into an accident in which a six-year-old boy died in Mäntsälä in October 2024. A five-year-old boy was seriously injured in the same incident.

At the time of the incident, the children were playing in another family's yard. Building sheets that had been on a cart in the yard collapsed on the boys, and the six-year-old became trapped beneath them.

Police suspect one person of causing death by negligence, as well as causing bodily injury and abandonment of a person in need. Investigation leader, criminal inspector Freddie Cederlund, did not disclose the suspect's age or gender.

According to Cederlund, the preliminary investigation aimed to clarify questions of responsibility related to the accident.
