Oulu police have compiled over one hundred tips and substantial surveillance camera recordings to investigate stabbings carried out by a cyclist. Multiple investigation teams are working on the case.
Chief Detective Petri Savela says that the observations vary widely. Members of the public have submitted images and information about a possible perpetrator and his movements.
"Every tip can be decisive. We go through them all," Savela emphasises.
Going through the tips and recordings takes time, but police assure that they are checking every observation received. The investigation utilises multiple tactical and technical investigation methods.
According to police, resources have been directed towards apprehending the perpetrator. Much work is being done behind the scenes that is not visible to the public.
Several stabbings have occurred in the Oulu region this year, in which an attacker has struck whilst moving on a bicycle, targeting people of foreign background. Authorities have indications that the motive may be racism.
