Police arrested Porsche thief in 17 minutes – pursuit across capital region
A man stole a Porsche from a service station in Helsinki on Tuesday and drove it to Vantaa. Police detained the suspect 17 minutes after the alert.

Police arrested a suspected car thief in Vantaa on Tuesday morning 17 minutes after the alert, Iltalehti reported.
The incident began around 11.30, when an unknown man stole a Porsche vehicle from the Tullinpuomi St1 service station in Helsinki. The driver was refuelling when the man took the car. Police received an emergency call at 11.37.
The thief drove the valuable car from Helsinki to Vantaa. Iltalehti received reports of the pursuit from areas including Metsälä.
The chase ended on Koivukyläntie in Simonkalllio when the suspect drove the car into bushes in the car park of an apartment building. Police detained the man at 11.54.
Units from both the Helsinki and East Uusimaa police departments participated in the operation. During the pursuit, one civilian vehicle and one police car were damaged.
The man is suspected to have been intoxicated. Police suspect him of unauthorised use of a vehicle, aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, and drink-driving.
