Police seek to remand one in custody over Somero homicide – two others already detained
South-Western Finland police are seeking to remand one person in custody in connection with a homicide that occurred in Somero on Thursday. Two other suspects in the killing have already been detained this week.
Investigation leader Jutta Karrento states that on the basis of questioning, a preliminary picture has emerged of how events unfolded. However, more detailed information about the act itself or any possible weapon has not yet been disclosed.
"Clarifying the matter requires further investigative measures and questioning," Karrento states.
Authorities received a report early Thursday morning of a bloodied man in the city centre. A 65-year-old man was detained. With the help of information he provided, police found a deceased man, approximately 40 years old, in a private flat on Turun Street. Shortly afterwards, authorities detained an approximately 30-year-old man, who is suspected of having been in the flat at the time of the incident. The crime is being investigated as murder.
According to Karrento, authorities will provide further information on the matter during Monday.
