– In recent weeks, fuel thefts have shown a clear spike, says Jyrki Hänninen, crime chief inspector of South-Eastern Finland police.
Thefts have occurred evenly across different parts of the region. Targets have included work machinery and fuel tanks, from which hundreds of litres have been stolen at a time.
