Helsinki District Court has remanded a man born in the 1970s in custody. He is suspected of a serious violent crime that occurred in Pyhtää, Kymenlaakso, in the dark between Sunday and Monday following Midsummer weekend.
The suspect is believed to have attempted to end the life of his own primary school-aged child. Authorities located the man at the crime scene shortly after the act occurred. He himself called the emergency number and reported what had happened.
According to investigators' initial assessment, this was not a sudden act, but rather involved premeditation. Police have conducted preliminary interviews with the parties involved and are continuing to investigate the sequence of events.
