A man in his forties disappeared in Seinäjoki in autumn 2020 and was found dead the following summer. According to police, death was caused by severe external violence. Five people were arrested in connection with the investigation.

A man in his forties disappeared in the Kasper district of Seinäjoki in November 2020. He was last seen in the same neighbourhood, after which contact with him ceased. Police initially opened a missing person investigation and appealed to the public for information.
The following summer, in June 2021, the man's body was found in the basement spaces of a residential block in the same neighbourhood. Based on a forensic examination, death was caused by severe external violence. According to authorities' assessment, the act occurred approximately six months earlier, around the time the man was reported missing.
In summer 2021, police arrested five men suspected of involvement in the act. Following the preliminary investigation now concluded, the matter has been transferred to the prosecutor for consideration of murder charges. According to a police statement, no new suspects have emerged during the investigation. The statement did not, however, clarify how many of the arrested men remain suspects.
Detective superintendent Juha Järvelin, who led the investigation, described it as a particularly lengthy and challenging homicide case. The investigation involved extensive technical analysis and demanding operational investigative work. Various coercive measures were also utilised comprehensively.
Järvelin specifically thanked the Central Criminal Police's laboratory unit as well as citizens who provided tips and information. Through these contributions, the investigative work was significantly advanced.
