On Friday, the South Ostrobothnia district court will take up a request for the detention of a man. The suspect in question is a fifty-five-year-old from Alajärvi, who is suspected of killing a victim aged around forty in Seinäjoki.
The man disappeared in autumn 2020. He was declared missing in November. The search continued for a year and a half. In summer 2021, a body was found in the lowest storey of an apartment building in the Kasper area.
The investigators have suspected several people. In 2021, authorities announced that five men were linked to the case. Four of them remain suspects.
Prosecutor Esa Luomala states that three other suspects are still under investigation. However, he does not reveal whether he is also seeking the remand of these men.
The Ostrobothnia Police Department announced yesterday that it has concluded the preliminary investigation. This means the matter will proceed to the prosecutor for case review on suspicion of murder.
During the investigation, members of the public provided a wealth of tips. According to police, this information was extremely helpful in advancing the investigation.
