Serious vandalism halts trains between Tampere and Seinäjoki
Vandalism that occurred on Saturday disrupted rail traffic on the section between Tampere and Seinäjoki. Fintraffic's rail traffic control centre reported that the fault was only corrected during the night.
The perpetrators damaged fibre-optic cables in Ylöjärvi, Pirkanmaa. Police took the case into investigation. Authorities are classifying the act as serious vandalism.
Traffic came to a halt after 6 p.m. and remained stopped for nearly three hours. Passengers had to wait for delayed trains, and some journeys were arranged via bus transport.
