A 43-year-old man from Turku has admitted to manslaughter in Varsinais-Suomi district court. He struck the victim on the head with a hammer and kept the body on a balcony for more than two months.

Varsinais-Suomi district court has been hearing a case in which a 43-year-old man from Turku has admitted to killing another man. The act took place in a flat block apartment located in Varissuolla, Turku.
According to the defendant, a dispute arose between the men in the flat, after which he struck the victim twice on the head with a hammer. Later that same night, he moved the body of the 44-year-old victim to the flat's balcony and kept it there wrapped in a rubbish bag for 75 days.
Police found the body during a search of the premises carried out in April. The victim's disappearance had been reported in February.
The defendant admitted to the manslaughter during proceedings held on Tuesday. However, he denies the charge of violating the peace of the grave and maintains that he did not treat the deceased in a manner lacking in respect.
The prosecutor is seeking a custodial sentence of at least ten years for the man. The verdict will be delivered later.
