In western Tampere, police arrested a man who had evaded a sentence of approximately eighteen months imprisonment for over six months. An airborne drone revealed his hiding place in long grass.
The events began on Wednesday early evening, when authorities arrived at a property to apprehend a wanted fugitive. However, nobody was visible at the location, and suspicions were aroused that the man had noticed the police approaching and fled.
The ground unit received assistance from the sky: thanks to search operations conducted with a drone, the patrol found the man approximately one hour later. He had concealed himself in high vegetation. The officer operating the drone guided colleagues on the ground to the correct location, from where he was arrested.
The man was taken to serve his sentence. The Central Finland Police announced the case.
