Central Finland police arrested a man on Wednesday who had evaded authorities for six months following his prison escape. He was supposed to serve approximately eighteen months behind bars, but he had absconded during his sentence.
A patrol arrived at a property in western Tampere in the early evening. However, the suspect sensed the approaching authorities and fled. The area was covered in dense, tall grass, which made the terrain extremely difficult to search.
Police deployed an unmanned aerial drone. It flew over the search area for approximately one hour until it located the man hiding in a bush. The drone operator directed the patrol to the correct location, and the arrest proceeded without resistance.
