The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, when the emergency centre received an alert at around 3 a.m. The fire department dispatched 17 different units to the scene.
The East Uusimaa police are investigating the case as arson. The duty fire chief assessed that the fire started on the school's interior courtyard, where there is a terrace. According to crime commissioner Mari Ajomaa, authorities consider deliberate arson probable, although the exact cause has not yet been established.
