Eastern Uusimaa police have made progress in investigating the fatal collision that occurred at the end of June on Lehdokkitie in Vantaa, according to Yle.

On 30 June, a woman who was travelling on an electric scooter and collided with a heavy vehicle died. More detailed information about the course of events has now been obtained, says investigation leader Simo Juntunen.

"We have gained a better understanding of what happened that morning, although the investigation is still ongoing," Juntunen commented.

He declined to provide further details, as the investigation is still open.

The case is being handled as endangerment of traffic safety and causing death by negligence. These suspicions remain unchanged for now, but will be reviewed again as the investigation progresses. The only suspect is the lorry driver.

"Based on the available evidence, substance use does not appear to be connected to this case," Juntunen told Yle.

According to police, the investigation still has lengthy procedures underway and some statements are still being awaited. The preliminary investigation is estimated to be completed in the coming months.
