Law enforcement discovered a substantial consignment of cocaine at Le Havre port, located in Seine-Maritime. Anti-narcotics agency personnel seized the drugs as they were leaving the port zone.
The seized goods weighed 253 kilograms and originated from the island of Martinique in the Caribbean. Laurent Nuñez, Minister of the Interior, disclosed this information on Wednesday evening on X. He did not specify the exact day on which the police conducted their operation.
Agents specialising in combating drug trafficking blocked the illicit consignment at the exit of the port in this Norman town. Le Havre represents one of France's largest maritime ports, making it a zone particularly targeted by traffickers.
This case adds to other seizures made at this same port. In September, six people — including two dock workers — had been apprehended in the Bay of the Seine. They were accused of removing approximately 64 kilograms of cocaine from a container ship, as reported by ICI Normandie on the basis of police sources.
State services maintain heightened vigilance in this zone of strategic importance to curb imports of narcotics from overseas territories and the Caribbean region.
