35 Glock pistols seized at Gare de Lyon: Turkish national charged with weapons trafficking
A man was arrested on 24 August at Gare de Lyon with 35 Glock pistols in his luggage. The suspect, a Turkish national, admits to having delivered around a hundred weapons for a criminal network.

It all started with a traveller behaving suspiciously on 24 August at Gare de Lyon in Paris. According to rtl.fr, customs officers noticed that the man was struggling to carry his rucksacks and decided to check him before his departure. A first unloaded Glock pistol was discovered on him. Police officers were immediately called in to search through all his baggage.
The search revealed 34 additional semi-automatic Glock pistols, bringing the total seizure to 35 weapons. The man was about to board a train to Perpignan before going on to Spain — his journey was brought to an abrupt halt.
Search of residence: around ten additional weapons and cash
Investigators continued their investigation at the suspect's home, a Turkish national in his forties. At the location, police officers seized around ten more weapons as well as liquid cash.
Questioned by the organised crime division (BRB) of the Parisian judicial police, the suspect acknowledged his links with a criminal organisation. He admitted to having already delivered around a hundred weapons on behalf of this network, deliveries which reportedly included Belgium and Spain.
An organiser known only by the alias "Mamie"
Investigators are now seeking to trace the chain of command. According to the suspect's statements, the network would be run by an organiser whom he only knows by the alias: "Mamie".
The examination of his mobile phone adds a concerning dimension to the case. Messages evoked plans for executions. At this stage, investigators have not yet determined whether the arrested man was himself to carry out the act or whether he was merely a logistical link in the network.
The suspect was charged with weapons trafficking and criminal association, then remanded in custody.
