A young man appeared before the Aix court on charges of drug offences and violence committed against police officers during his custody.

An Aix-en-Provence court examined on Tuesday the case of an 18-year-old adolescent prosecuted for several offences committed in Martigues during the months of March and April 2026.
The individual was apprehended on 8 April whilst handling drugs in a technical facility belonging to electricity supplier EDF. During his detention at the police station, he violently resisted the officers. He hurled insults and abuse at the police forces, claiming he was unable to use the toilet. At the moment of being returned to his cell, he struggled with such intensity that it took six police officers to restrain him.
This matter is not the only charge levelled against the defendant. On 16 March, he had already been involved in another incident. He had threatened his own father with a box cutter. The hearing also addressed this second episode.
The young man, who had requested an adjournment to prepare his defence, spent several weeks in pre-trial detention following his initial appearance. Part of his family was present in the courtroom to support him.
