Two municipal police officers from Margny-lès-Compiègne have been held in custody since Saturday following a fatal accident that occurred during the night of Friday to Saturday in Bienville, in the Oise. The facts date back to an attempted traffic stop by the municipal police of Margny-lès-Compiègne. The vehicle's driver refused to stop and attempted to flee. The resulting accident cost the driver his life. The passenger was slightly injured.
The two occupants of the crashed vehicle had been pursued following this refusal to stop, the prosecutor's office clarified, confirming information initially reported by the Courrier Picard. The injured passenger was also taken into custody.
The two municipal police officers, apprehended on Saturday, are being questioned by investigators in order to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the attempted stop and the sequence of events leading to the fatal accident.
