Four people — two adults and two minors — were presented to an investigating judge this Friday 21 August.
The facts date back to square Colette, in the Lille South neighbourhood, where serious violence erupted between members of two separate families. According to La Voix du Nord, the altercation originated in a meeting on social media between a man and a woman, which quickly escalated into threats and harassment directed at the woman.
"From 12 August, the situation deteriorates with several successive assaults, very violent but without weapons," reports La Voix du Nord. On 13 August, the violence left four injured, including one seriously hurt: this victim suffered a head trauma and, according to the Lille prosecutor's office, "their vital prognosis remains at risk".
On Wednesday 19 August, five members of the same family had been arrested by police.
The Lille prosecutor's office announced the opening of a judicial investigation for attempted murder, reiterated threats of death, violence with weapons, violence against a minor under 15 years of age, and aggravated violence by several circumstances. Four of the five people arrested were referred before an investigating judge. The prosecutor's office sought provisional detention for two of them, an adult and a minor. Following the presentations, the minor targeted by these requests was placed under judicial supervision.
