Two police officers under investigation in the Trident case are to appear before a disciplinary hearing in October, following the distribution of 360 kg of cocaine in Marseille.

Two police officers involved in the Trident case will be summoned before a disciplinary hearing in early October, according to ici.fr on Wednesday 23 September, citing a source close to the file who confirms information from Le Figaro.
The two officers are under investigation in connection with a "supervised delivery" operation of cocaine conducted by the Ofast, the anti-narcotics office in Marseille. In 2023, 360 kilograms of cocaine from Colombia had arrived at Marseille port. The investigators intended to follow the shipment to dismantle the network of Mimo, a drug trafficking chief in the Castellane neighbourhood. The operation failed: Mimo did not "take the bait", possibly alerted by a police officer, and the drug was entirely distributed on the Marseille market.
The disciplinary hearing, composed of members of the administration and trade union representatives, will formulate any recommendation for sanction, which will then be transmitted to the Minister of the Interior. The latter will decide whether or not to follow the recommendation. The two police officers will be able to present themselves at this meeting accompanied by a person of their choice.
In total, five Marseille police officers have been put under investigation in this case: besides the two police officers, two commissioners heading the Marseille branch of the Ofast as well as one officer are among those under investigation. Two informants have also been indicted.
Furthermore, a former police officer from the Bac Nord of Marseille was put under investigation on 23 April in a separate investigation, concerning the assault of Maria, a young woman violently beaten in 2018 during a "yellow vests" protest, according to her lawyer.
