Failure to stop in Mont-de-Marsan: driver tests positive for alcohol and arrested

On Thursday evening, 2 July 2026, police officers from the Mont-de-Marsan police station arrested a driver in his fifties following a failure to stop in the area of the arènes, according to sudouest.fr. The arrest occurred whilst the town centre was animated by the Arte flamenco festival.
The man did not comply with orders from law enforcement during a routine check. A high-speed chase then ensued before the vehicle was eventually brought to a stop on rue du Château d'eau. The driver was extracted from his vehicle on the spot.
Subjected to a breath test, he was found to be positive for alcohol. He was first placed in a sobering cell, then taken into police custody. This measure was still in place on Friday, 3 July 2026 at the end of the day. According to information from sudouest.fr, the suspect is already known to police.
