A Paris police officer has been convicted and fined for damaging private property, six years after the incident, according to mediapart.fr. The incident dates back to a night when the officer, accompanied by five other police officers, entered the private car park of a resident in the 20th arrondissement of Paris before damaging his vehicle.
The victim, F. Coulibaly, 39 years old, a VTC driver and law student, filmed the scene. It was this video that formed a central piece of evidence in the case. "If I told you: 'I experienced something crazy yesterday, the police came into my car park, they broke my car', it would not be believable. But it is true," he stated on Thursday 24 September in the corridors of Paris's lower criminal court.
The judgment was handed down after a six-year legal process. The police officer in question was part of a group of six officers present during the incident, according to information reported by mediapart.fr.
