Knife assault in Brest after PSG victory: three young men awaiting trial

Three suspects arrested four months after the commercial port assault
According to letelegramme.fr, three young men aged 18, 20 and 22, residing in Brest and Drenec, were arrested on 17 September in connection with the knife assault that occurred on 30 May at the commercial port of Brest, on the margins of celebrations marking PSG's Champions League victory.
That night, a man leaving a restaurant with friends was confronted by two individuals on a motorbike. After the motorbike rider fell, the passenger got off the vehicle and inflicted three knife wounds on the victim. A third individual then joined the altercation.
Transported to hospital, the victim was signed off work for ten days of total work stoppage (ITT). The video of the assault, shared on social media the next day, sparked a widespread reaction. Two suspects arrested that same evening were nonetheless quickly cleared and released.
Investigation breakthrough through a registration plate
Investigators from the investigative unit of Brest police station conducted multiple witness interviews and analysed CCTV footage. A witness report that communicated the registration plate of the motorbike proved to be the decisive turning point in the investigation.
During searches conducted at the homes of the three suspects, police seized a knife and clothing matching those visible in the assault images.
Initially, the three men denied any involvement during their police custody, before acknowledging their participation once confronted with the video recordings. They provided no precise explanation for their actions, however.
Trial scheduled for 8 March 2027
After being brought before the Brest prosecutor's office on Friday, the three suspects were placed under judicial supervision pending their appearance. Their hearing is scheduled for 8 March 2027.
