The criminal court examined on Thursday 9 July the fate of three men held in custody in connection with a drug resale case. The facts concern the Franklin-Roosevelt district, located in Aix-les-Bains, where a vast operation had been launched a month earlier, mobilising around sixty officers.
At the same time, two alleged participants in this illicit trade have not been located and are the subject of active searches. The case holds symbolic significance for the magistrates of the public prosecutor's office, who view it as the judicial expression of lengthy investigative work.
According to the deputy public prosecutor, this urban area had constituted for several years a focal point for dealing where criminal activity had ultimately become permanently established. A collective of investigators was formed twelve months ago, making it possible to restore a relationship of trust between residents and law enforcement.
The heavy-handed June intervention aimed to dismantle an established organisation. The three detainees appeared without restraint, escorted by prison officers. The proceedings focused on the position occupied by each person in this structure, with one of the accused vigorously contesting his supposed rank within the hierarchy.
