The Ajaccio criminal court delivered its decisions on Wednesday concerning four individuals prosecuted for offences related to drug dealing. These judgements conclude an investigation lasting several months carried out across the territories of Sarrola-Carcopino and Ajaccio.
The suspected organiser of the trafficking was sentenced most severely. He must serve five years in prison, pay 10,000 euros to the State, and forfeit seized assets estimated at 50,000 euros. The magistrate found him guilty of offences relating to the dealing of illicit substances, the formation of a criminal group, and the unlawful possession and purchase of weapons.
Two accomplices, who served as intermediaries to conceal the merchandise, were also punished. One received four years, with one year suspended, whilst the other was sentenced to three years with two years suspended and a financial penalty of 2,000 euros.
The main defendant's partner was also found guilty. She was sentenced to two years, with fifteen months suspended, for having participated in the illegal activities, laundered funds and concealed her income.
Police officers worked on this case for four months. They calculated that the activity generated approximately 400,000 euros and that each month one kilogramme of cocaine was handled in the area. During search operations, they discovered LSD, ecstasy and around ten weapons.
