A motorist was arrested by a police team during the night of Tuesday 30 June in Tarbes, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. The check took place around 23:00. Officers found that the driver was under the combined effects of alcoholic beverages and illicit substances.
During his custody at the town police station, the man readily admitted to having consumed alcohol and used narcotic products before getting behind the wheel. This behaviour exposed other road users to serious risk.
The case was handled through criminal composition, scheduled for 2 November. This procedure allows for rapid sanctions of an offence when the perpetrator admits to the facts alleged against him, without going through a hearing before the criminal court.
