Amboise: major drugs operation in Malétrenne-Plaisance district
Law enforcement conducted a large-scale operation during the night of Sunday to Monday, deploying officers from 6 a.m. in the Malétrenne-Plaisance district, located in Amboise, in Indre-et-Loire. The objective: to apprehend suspects involved in the resale of illicit products.
The targeted area is located near former sports facilities, at the foot of residential buildings. This sector is known to police services as a location where transactions in prohibited substances regularly take place.
At around 8 a.m., the head of the local gendarmerie company, Émilie Lostanlen, told journalists present that people were being held in custody. She explained that this action resulted from an inquiry opened by the prosecutor's office at the Tours court, aimed at dismantling a drug distribution network.
To carry out this operation successfully, the Amboise forces benefited from significant reinforcements. Officers from the Psig units in Blois and Tours, members of the specialised protection platoon, as well as dog handlers were called in as reinforcements. The total number of personnel mobilised came to approximately fifty men and women.
The precise number of individuals placed in provisional detention was not disclosed. Investigators will now have to establish the exact involvement of each suspect in the criminal organisation and take stock of any merchandise seized during the house searches.
This operation forms part of a broader enforcement approach aimed at curbing the circulation of narcotics in this district of the Tours municipality.
