According to fr.style.yahoo.com, police in Cher launched an appeal for witnesses on Wednesday 23 September to find Willy Baron, 32, described as a "dangerous individual" and suspected of murdering his partner. The body of the latter, aged 47, was discovered on Sunday 21 September at 22:50 at her home in Châteaumeillant, in the south of the department.
The autopsy, carried out the following Monday, established that the death "is the result of multiple traumatic injuries", according to the prosecutor of the Republic of Bourges, Céline Visiedo. She added that there "is no weapon, nor wounds".
The suspect, who fled, was last seen on Tuesday in the commune of Ids-Saint-Roch. He is described as measuring 1 m 71, with mid-length chestnut hair and brown eyes, with normal build. Police are asking the public not to intervene directly and to dial 17 if they have any information.
The investigation, initially opened for homicide and entrusted to the research section of the Bourges gendarmerie, was reclassified as spousal homicide following initial investigations by the Bourges prosecutor's office.
In 2024, 107 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in France, compared to 96 in 2023, an increase of 11 per cent, according to figures from the Inter-ministerial Mission for the Protection of Women (Miprof).
