Eighteen months after the death of a 14-year-old boy stabbed over a mobile phone, the court has ordered the two young accused to be tried in a specialised juvenile court.

Eighteen months after the events, the investigating magistrate has decided to send the two individuals suspected of murdering Elias to trial before a juvenile assize court. This decision was made on 10 June and corresponds to the requests filed by the Paris public prosecutor's office.
The tragedy dates back to 24 January 2025, in the south-west of the capital. The fourteen-year-old boy was leaving his sports session in the company of a classmate when they were targeted by two assailants who wanted to steal a mobile device. The following day, the teenager died from internal bleeding resulting from the blows he had received.
One of the alleged attackers is said to have used a blade 45 cm long, nicknamed "Zombie Killer", whilst the other allegedly used an axe. Both, aged seventeen and eighteen, were already listed in criminal records.
They will stand trial for violence accompanied by extortion resulting in death, as well as for assault committed against the victim's companion. The judge has also required them to remain in custody until the hearing.
Elias's family representatives welcomed this development: "This essential phase of the proceedings comes to an end. The family has obtained initial recognition of the guilt of those who caused the death of their child."
