On Monday 13 July, a landlord found a tenant dead in her apartment in Béthune (Pas-de-Calais). The man had gone to the property after a friend of the deceased contacted him, alarmed by her silence.

The local prosecutor's office confirmed that the death resulted from wounds inflicted with a blade. The identity of the deceased remains unknown for the time being. A forensic medical examination is planned to clarify the exact causes.

A procedure for murder has been launched. The interdepartmental service of the judicial police of Pas-de-Calais is leading the investigation. Officers will examine in particular the possibility of prostitution activity at this holiday rental, according to information reported by ICI Nord.
