Bourg-lès-Valence: three minors held in custody for heroin dealing
On Friday 3 July, law enforcement officers apprehended three young people in Bourg-lès-Valence (Drôme), suspected of involvement in a drug trafficking network. The operation began around 18:35 when a road check was carried out by the anti-crime unit.
A 16-year-old adolescent, cycling the wrong way around a roundabout, caught the attention of officers. They found on his person a small quantity of diacetylmorphine and the key to a hotel room. The boy was immediately taken to the police station.
Investigators then searched the room in question. They discovered six additional doses of illegal substance and an envelope containing 250 euros. Two other people were present at the scene: the younger brother of the first suspect, aged 15, and a 16-year-old girl. The three were placed in provisional detention as part of the investigation, although each denied the accusations.
The judicial procedure differs according to the age of the defendants. The two eldest will appear before the juvenile court, whilst the youngest will be tried under a simplified admission-of-facts procedure.
