The establishment displays works by René Lalique, a French jeweller, glassmaker and Art Nouveau designer.
The theft occurred during a lightning attack on the rural museum. The perpetrators managed to seize the precious pieces on display before fleeing. The authorities have not yet disclosed details about the number of assailants involved or their precise modus operandi.
The public prosecutor and sources close to the investigation confirmed these details to news agency AFP, cited by Czech media Lidovky.cz.
The investigation is ongoing to attempt to identify the perpetrators of this burglary and to recover the stolen jewels.
