Anti-drugs operation in Dordogne: Namy the Malinois uncovers cannabis in a bicycle bag
According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), the Sarlat gendarmerie company conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Montignac-Lascaux, Dordogne, on Thursday 20 August, with the assistance of the Ussel canine unit in Corrèze.
Captain Giacomonie, of the Sarlat community of brigades (COB), wished to emphasise the particularities of the territory: "It is not at all the same profile of consumers as in Sarlat. Here, it is more people who smoke cannabis, whereas in Sarlat, we are dealing with cocaine consumption."
It was Namy, a three-year-old female Malinois, who carried out the checks and searches under the direction of her handler, officer C., who wished to remain anonymous. "The dog learns throughout her life," the officer explains. "She is specialised in searching for narcotics, banknotes and ammunition — everything that has a link with trafficking."
The operation lasted nearly two hours. A piece of cannabis resin was finally located in a building hallway, concealed inside a bicycle bag. Whilst the result may seem limited, it is likely to open a judicial investigation. The COB gendarmes acted on the requisition of the prosecutor.
