A police operation put an end to prostitution activity in the town centre of Carpentras, in the Vaucluse department. Investigators from the anti-crime brigade questioned a man and three women, all originally from Paraguay, according to Le Dauphiné Libéré.

The investigation began on 7 June when a person came to the police station to report suspicious activity in a residence on Boulevard Albin-Durand. Officers then conducted surveillance of the location and observed unusual foot traffic.

After questioning two passers-by who confirmed the presence of sex workers in the apartment, law enforcement carried out a search. Four people in their twenties were taken into custody.

Following questioning, the Avignon prosecution magistrate decided to remand the man in custody on 10 June. He will face charges of pimping before the criminal court. The three women were released.
