A major development has shaken the Jubillar case. The main accused, aged 37, has finally admitted his guilt in writing, sending a confession letter to his new legal advisers, Pierre and Guy Debuisson. This admission comes more than five years after the night when Delphine Jubillar, a 33-year-old nurse, was last seen at Cagnac-les-Mines.
The incident dates back to 15 December 2020. Since then, despite searches mobilising hundreds of people and thorough investigations, no trace of the family woman's body has been found.
In a statement to the media, Maître Pierre Debuisson sought to clarify the terms: his client "does not confess to murder" but admits "being at the origin of his wife's death". The detailed circumstances would be reserved for the investigating magistrates. According to the defence, the death would be the result of a recurring marital dispute, and the accused subsequently concealed the body.
This legal turnaround could force the justice system to postpone the appeal trial initially scheduled for 21 September. The priority objective would become locating the body, which certain indications place near the family home.
The case had already experienced developments during the first-instance trial, where Cédric Jubillar received a 30-year prison sentence. His own mother had then testified to disturbing statements made by her son: death threats and burial threats made against Delphine.
