A lifeless body was found on Friday, 4 September at Brienon-sur-Armançon, in the railway station district, according to lyonne.fr. Throughout the weekend, rumours of homicide circulated in the municipality, particularly on social media.
On Sunday afternoon, gendarmes attended the scene to view images from surveillance cameras. "Two men were arrested and remanded in custody on Monday for murder," the Sens public prosecutor's office stated, which has since been transferred to the Auxerre public prosecutor's office. The latter had not yet responded to the newspaper's requests at the time of publication.
According to lyonne.fr's information, the incident could be linked to a drug trafficking matter. A death certificate was issued with a medicolegal obstacle noted. A judicial police officer and criminal identification technicians attended the scene.
Outside the building located at the corner of Avenue de la Gare and Rue du Port, unknown individuals placed several roses on the windowsill of a window with closed shutters.
A neighbour, questioned on Monday afternoon, said she had not heard the intervention. "But the next day, gendarmes came to ask me questions as well as the neighbour across the way. I often came across this man, but I didn't talk to him much." She recalled a few unusual details in the days before the body was discovered. "Whereas he normally kept his shutters closed, they remained open last week, she said. Similarly, the door, which had remained ajar. At the time, I didn't pay more attention than that to these details."
