Car chase in Somme: eight injured, including two babies, after accident involving human traffickers

Eight people were injured during the night of Thursday 22 to Friday 23 May in Abbeville, in the Somme, following a car chase involving human traffickers, migrants and law enforcement, reports France Info, confirming information from ICI Picardie and Courrier picard. Among the injured are two babies.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. A few hours earlier in the evening, national and municipal police officers had been deployed at Abbeville railway station to prevent hundreds of migrants, who had arrived by train from Calais, from joining human traffickers heading towards England. Some of the migrants nevertheless managed to bypass the operation.
During the night, law enforcement spotted a suspicious Jaguar registered in England. Inside were two human traffickers and eight migrants, "including two babies", according to the words of Abbeville's mayor, Angelo Tonolli (miscellaneous left), cited by ICI Picardie.
A car chase then began through the streets of Abbeville. The driver missed a bend: the vehicle struck two parked cars before crashing into the façade of a house, which was badly damaged.
In total, eight minor injuries were reported — three women, three men and the two new-borns. All were taken to Abbeville hospital. The two human traffickers were arrested by law enforcement.
