Chase in Pas-de-Calais: several kilograms of drugs found in abandoned car

In early June, officers attempted to stop a Citroën C3 in the municipality of Nœux-les-Mines. The driver refused to stop and fled in the direction of Sains-en-Gohelle.

During his escape, the fugitive performed a series of dangerous manoeuvres. He drove through several intersections without respecting stop signals, passed through a junction despite a red light, and drove the wrong way on a roundabout. The vehicle eventually left the road to enter an agricultural track.

Officers located the car left unattended on a street in the locality. An inspection of the boot and interior enabled them to seize a substantial sum of money — €2,610 — as well as several packets of illicit substances: more than five kilograms of ketamine, nearly thirty grammes of cocaine and approximately one hundred grammes of cannabis.

The perpetrator was not on the scene when police managed to locate his vehicle. Searches to identify and apprehend him were still ongoing.
