A dispute between multiple individuals on a public square in Clermont-Ferrand turned tragic, resulting in one death and one injured person. Two young men were placed in police custody.

A brawl broke out on Saturday 13 June at approximately 22:40 on Place des Carmes in Clermont-Ferrand. During this dispute involving multiple people, a man received a knife blow to the chest. Passersby attempted to help him before the intervention of BAC officers, who performed resuscitation measures. Despite their intervention and his emergency transport to the university hospital centre, the victim died one hour after the incident.
Another participant in the brawl was struck in the abdomen and hospitalised.
Investigators quickly apprehended two men aged 20. One of them was carrying a blade at the time of his arrest. Both are currently being held by police for questioning.
