Two firearm murders have struck the Lyon metropolitan area within a week. One of the victims had been convicted of double murder.

According to leprogres.fr, two men were shot dead in the Lyon metropolitan area within seven days.
On 28 August, around 19:30, a man was shot in the head in Décines, in the Sully neighbourhood. The victim had, according to the newspaper, previously been convicted of double murder. Two suspected perpetrators allegedly fled immediately after the incident on a scooter.
On Friday 4 September, a second murder took place around 23:00. The victim, a Vénissieux resident named Abdelkader L., was alone in his car, parked on avenue Gabriel Péri at the entrance to Vaulx-en-Velin. Another vehicle then approached and a passenger opened fire. The suspects fled immediately after the shooting.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing. The precise circumstances of the two murders have not yet been made fully public.
