An 18-year-old volunteer firefighter and another young man of the same age have been arrested and remanded in custody following fires in Fontainebleau Forest.

The courts have remanded in custody two 18-year-old men suspected of being responsible for the fires that ravaged Fontainebleau Forest in Seine-et-Marne. Among the two suspects is a volunteer firefighter, who allegedly admitted to starting the fires.
The flames destroyed several hectares of the forest, a designated Natura 2000 site, and forced authorities to temporarily close the A6 motorway. Investigators apprehended several people in connection with the case.
