Two Renoirs stolen from Cagnes-sur-Mer recovered near Montpellier
Two Renoir paintings stolen from the Cagnes-sur-Mer museum on 8 September have been recovered on Friday near Montpellier. Six people are in custody in this investigation.

Recovery of stolen paintings
According to France Info, the two Renoir oils stolen from the Cagnes-sur-Mer museum were recovered on Friday 9 October by investigators in Clermont-l'Hérault, in Hérault, near Montpellier. The information was confirmed on Saturday 10 October by a source close to the investigation. The two works, titled "Madame Colonna Romano" and "Young Woman at the Well", had been missing for a month.
The theft took place on 8 September, when two burglars entered the Renoir museum, sawed through the fixtures of four paintings and fled with two of them. The two other paintings were abandoned in the museum gardens. Six people were taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with this matter, including two suspected of being the perpetrators of the burglary.
A press conference will be held on Monday morning at 10:30 at Nanterre, in the Hauts-de-Seine, in the presence of the public prosecutor of Marseille, Nicolas Bessonne, and the national director of the judicial police. It will address the progress of this criminal investigation which has mobilised authorities since the discovery of the theft.
