A 31-year-old man from Niort and his father were imprisoned after police discovered a substantial quantity of narcotics and thousands of euros hidden at their home.

A speeding offence enabled police from Niort's BAC unit to dismantle a drug resale operation. On Monday 6 July, officers intercepted a 31-year-old motorist driving above the speed limit. The vehicle's lack of insurance and the visible agitation of the driver prompted the officers to investigate further.
During the traffic stop, the man in his thirties sent a message to a close contact mentioning a "BAC check". This alert led investigators to search his home. There, they seized a notable quantity of illicit substances as well as several thousand euros concealed in a safe. The suspect's father, who was also involved in the matter, was arrested.
The two men were brought before the public prosecutor's office. The judge ordered they be remanded in custody pending trial. They are accused of drug trafficking.
