An erroneous delivery allowed law enforcement to uncover a drugs network in south-eastern France. Four individuals were apprehended.

Residents of the Alpes-Maritimes region received packages of animal feed containing a significant quantity of drugs in error last spring. Inside were ten kilograms of ketamine, a hallucinogenic substance highly prized at techno parties. This logistical mishap was what alerted the gendarmerie and made it possible to dismantle an entire network.
Investigators from the Grasse brigade worked for several weeks to trace the supply chains. They determined that a well-established organisation was supplying illegal parties on the Côte d'Azur with psychoactive substances. On 30 June, officers raided multiple locations, including one situated in the historic centre of Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
The searches proved fruitful. In addition to the initial ketamine, seizures included MMC, MDMA, ecstasy, as well as traces of cocaine and cannabis. Experts estimate the total haul to be worth between seven hundred thousand and nine hundred thousand euros on the black market.
Four suspects were taken into custody. Two appeared urgently before the prosecutor in Grasse on Friday. The third will answer for his actions before the judge in September. The fourth will benefit from a guilty plea procedure.
