A man already well known to law enforcement was presented to a judge in immediate appearance proceedings on 6 July 2026 in Saint-Pierre, on the island of La Réunion. He faced a series of financial offences committed a year earlier near the Grand Sud cinema complex in Pierrefonds.
During October 2025, numerous people reported the theft of their payment methods followed by fraudulent transactions. Police quickly apprehended the perpetrator, who was remanded in custody. This imprisonment put an end to his crimes.
However, investigators did not close their file. The judicial police and forensic science services continued working to determine the exact extent of the damage. Their efforts resulted in a precise assessment: twenty-six victims and total losses estimated at €38,400.
The suspect was taken from his cell on 6 July to be questioned in police custody. Faced with the material evidence and proof gathered by investigators, he admitted to all the facts he was accused of before being brought before the courthouse for immediate trial.
